What is NYAGO?

NYAGO stands for the Not Your Average Guitar Orchestra. It is an amateur guitar orchestra welcoming players of various ages and abilities, especially beginner and intermediate players.  It is based in beautiful Ocqueoc Township, Presque Isle County, Michigan.

Do you own a guitar? Acoustic, classical, electric, bass…? Has it been a long time since you last picked up your guitar and actually played something? Would you like to be a part of a group that enjoys making music while giving something back to the community?

To borrow from the inspiration of HAGO and its director, Derek Hasted, the aim of this orchestra is to blaze a trail in the world of Guitar Orchestra by taking guitar our into the community

We’ll explore various styles of music, including but not limited to rock, blues, jazz, and classical. The repertoire offers something interesting to the listener as well as the player.

The goal is to play for enjoyment and perform for the community. We’ll be seeking out ways to support various area efforts through our music.

Donna Klein is the musical director and organizer of the orchestra.  She also gives private instruction in guitar, piano/keyboard, voice and performance.
